The project "Caffe Interkultura" is being implemented within the framework of the public competition of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights for 2025, entitled "Montenegro - Land of Interculture: Through Interculturalism to Social Cohesion and Inclusive Society". The initiative was created as a response to challenges in the field of interculturalism and social cohesion in Montenegro, with a special focus on young people in less developed and northern municipalities, as well as members of marginalized groups. The research on which the project is based indicates the presence of ethnic distance and a lack of continuous programs that develop intercultural competencies, leading to a lack of a sense of shared social responsibility among young people.
The mission of the project is to encourage intercultural dialogue and build social cohesion by creating a safe, creative and participatory space for mutual acquaintance and joint creativity. The vision is an empowered youth community that cherishes the values of understanding, solidarity and respect for diversity, acting as a bridge between different cultural and ethnic groups.
In the long term, the project, with the partnership support of NGO Gnijezdo, aims to reduce ethnic distance and strengthen social resilience in local communities. The recommendations formulated by young people are expected to become part of local and national public policies, while the developed educational models will serve as a resource for future intercultural interventions throughout Montenegro.
The key activities of the project are:
- Planning and visual identity;
- Educational-creative cycle "Social Mosaic": implementation of workshops;
- Advocacy and recommendations;
- Public event and artistic action: Organization of the closing event in Podgorica;
- Digital campaign and project promotion.
The NGO Center for Youth Education manages the entire project cycle, coordinates the work of partners and external associates, and ensures financial and administrative compliance.
