DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Development, Monitoring, Recognition and Digitalization of Extracurricular Activities at University Level

2025 - 2028

Active

The project "Development, Monitoring, Recognition and Digitalization of Extracurricular Activities at University Level", supported by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) through the Erasmus+ programme, was created in response to the challenges in organising and recognising extracurricular activities in higher education in Montenegro. This problem causes low motivation and insufficient connection of students with their home institutions, as existing activities are often not aligned with their interests and professional aspirations.

The mission of the project is to establish a structured framework for student clubs and their integration into the academic credit system, thereby directly empowering the personal and professional development of students. The vision of the project is to create a sustainable and innovative environment in higher education that promotes long-term student engagement and formally recognises their social and practical contribution to the community.

The consortium led by the coordinator University of Montenegro (UOM), brings together partners: University Mediterranean, University Donja Gorica, University Adriatic Bar, University of Jaen (Spain), University of Zagreb (Croatia), University Cote d Azur (France), NGO Center for Youth Education, AKOKVO and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.

The project will significantly improve students skills in organisational management, strengthen institutional policies for recognising extracurricular work and modernise the higher education system through digital tools. In the long term, DTRD-ECA aims for systemic changes in education policies and the establishment of a national framework for evaluating extracurricular achievements through ECTS credits.

The activities are structured through five key phases:
- Project Management and Communication: Establishment of management structures, preparation of quality plans and regular progress reporting.
- Policy Framework Development: Analysis of student interests, study visits to EU partners and preparation of documents for the integration of extracurricular activities into the academic system.
- Strengthening Student Clubs: Formal establishment of at least five new clubs per institution and implementation of campaigns for youth empowerment and leadership.
- Digital Platform and Piloting: Development of a software solution for activity tracking and introduction of a digital miles system that converts into academic credits.
- Promotion and Sustainability: Creation of promotional strategies, launch of the project website and development of a long-term sustainability plan for extracurricular activities.

The NGO Center for Youth Education, as the leader of the promotion and sustainability team (WP5), will ensure the visibility of project results, manage digital communication channels and define mechanisms for the permanent institutionalisation of achieved changes in student life.
